New Form I-9 – Immediate Action Required

The newest version of the Form I-9 is now available, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced. Employers may continue using the current version of Form I-9 only until January 21, 2017. After January 21, all previous versions of the Form I-9 will be invalid.

Employers should ensure that the new form is made available and/or distributed to all hiring managers or HR responsible for completing Form I-9 and all invalid versions should be removed from any company intranet or onboarding systems and replaced with the new version.

Employers completing the Form I-9 will still need to print the form, obtain handwritten signatures, and file and monitor for any re-verifications and updates.
